News : Data Breach Victims File Lawsuit Against LendingTree
8:00 PM EDT Per. May. 22, 2008
Altogether, the lawsuit maintained that former company employees gained unauthorized access to sensitive information contained in its loan request forms by using old passwords.
Plaintiffs in the suit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, N.Y., contend that Lending Tree failed to implement adequate security measures to keep customer's information secure. The breaches--which involved names and Social Security numbers among other personal information--are believed to have begun in October 2006, but LendingTree did not notify customers until last month.
LendingTree also is placing the responsibility and cost on customers for monitoring their credit reports and trying to repair negative impacts on their credit history from the breach, the lawsuit says.....

Wanted to know what your experiences were with either of these companies, if any.
Also, if you considered using them, but went with a broker instead, I'd like to know why.
Thanks.
